The development team is growing this summer, and this week we’re excited to introduce Antonio Sarcevic. Antonio is a full-stack developer who joins us from Münster as part of Datawrapper’s app team.
Let’s hear from Toni himself:
Heyo, I’m Antonio Sarcevic or Toni for short. I’m a software developer who loves to craft user experiences. I live in Münster, and when I’m not at the computer I love to go to concerts, ride my fingerboard, and visit my friends.
I’ve been amazed by the possibilities of the web ever since learning how simple it is to build user interfaces with HTML and CSS during my bachelor’s studies in media and communications informatics. Since 2019 I’ve been gathering professional experience in the field with different technologies and companies, and I also like to work on personal projects.
During the first SvelteHack in spring 2023, I got together with Paolo Ricciuti and started crafting SvelteLab, a supercharged version of the Svelte REPL — a tool that lets you write a whole SvelteKit app in your browser without having to install anything yourself. It features support for SvelteKit, TypeScript, code formatting, and more to improve productivity while experimenting with ideas in Svelte.
We’ve been blown by the amazing reception of the Svelte community! (Paolo and I originally met on Twitter because we both love Svelte so much 😅) If you are interested, please check it out at sveltelab.dev.
Datawrapper seemed like a really good fit from the start. I’ve always been fascinated by data visualizations and the stories they tell, so working on a tool that enables more people to create them was a really attractive proposition. After the first few calls it was clear the values and approach to programming aligned really well too — a company valuing meaningful work and personal growth was just the kind of place I was looking for. Being able to use Svelte was icing on the cake!
I’m joining the app team and will work towards making the user experience of Datawrapper as slick as possible, refactoring the code to help us stay productive, and adding exciting new features. I’m super excited to be part of the Datawrapper team and learn from all the other talented people here!
Welcome to Datawrapper, Toni! You can find more of Antonio’s work at his website, sarcevic.dev.
