This summer, our development team is growing again ā starting with Jack Goodall. Jack is a full-stack developer who’s joining us from Lyon to work on all aspects of the Datawrapper app.
We asked Jack a few questions to get to know him better:
Hi, Iām Jack! I was born in France to English parents (i.e., āfranglaisā). When Iām not clacking away on my keyboard Iām probably skiing, rock climbing, or twiddling my mustache.
Iām currently starting my last year as a student in information technology at Epitech Lyon, having just got back from a year studying computer science in QuĆ©bec. After a year of poutine and maple syrup, Iām happy to have access to cheap reblochon and wine again! š§š·
I previously worked at Safecube on their real-time cargo tracking and monitoring app. There, I honed the skills in building interactive maps and shipping data visualizations for enterprise-grade software that I hope to apply here at Datawrapper.
While browsing Hacker News I came across a job listing that piqued my interest ā particularly the use of Svelte as a UI library, as I had become very fond of using it in my personal projects. The opportunity to work on graphs and maps also definitely intrigued my nerdy side š¤ I looked into the company, was impressed by the quality of the tool and the blog, and decided to apply!
As a full-stack developer I’ll be working on all sides of the app, handling integration of the different parts of the website, squashing bugs, and adding cool new features. I’m especially interested in working on performance and user experience. Iām looking forward to collaborating with the super talented team and contributing to a great product!
Welcome, Jack! We’re excited to have you join us.
