Say Hi to Jack!

This summer, our development team is growing again — starting with Jack Goodall. Jack is a full-stack developer who’s joining us from Lyon to work on all aspects of the Datawrapper app.

We asked Jack a few questions to get to know him better:

Hi Jack! Can you introduce yourself?

Hi, I’m Jack! I was born in France to English parents (i.e., “franglais”). When I’m not clacking away on my keyboard I’m probably skiing, rock climbing, or twiddling my mustache.

What did you do before working at Datawrapper?

I’m currently starting my last year as a student in information technology at Epitech Lyon, having just got back from a year studying computer science in Québec. After a year of poutine and maple syrup, I’m happy to have access to cheap reblochon and wine again! 🧀🍷

Sights from my time in Canada: Quebec City, Montreal, and Emerald Lake, British Columbia

I previously worked at Safecube on their real-time cargo tracking and monitoring app. There, I honed the skills in building interactive maps and shipping data visualizations for enterprise-grade software that I hope to apply here at Datawrapper.

Why did you want to join Datawrapper?

While browsing Hacker News I came across a job listing that piqued my interest — particularly the use of Svelte as a UI library, as I had become very fond of using it in my personal projects. The opportunity to work on graphs and maps also definitely intrigued my nerdy side 🤓 I looked into the company, was impressed by the quality of the tool and the blog, and decided to apply!

What will you do at Datawrapper?

As a full-stack developer I’ll be working on all sides of the app, handling integration of the different parts of the website, squashing bugs, and adding cool new features. I’m especially interested in working on performance and user experience. I’m looking forward to collaborating with the super talented team and contributing to a great product!

Welcome, Jack! We’re excited to have you join us.
